Default What do you use to measure fish with?

Now remember this is a family oriented site! lol:D

I currently use one of those yellow MDC stick-on rulers, but I've heard that they shrink when they get hot. This might get ya a ticket if you think you have a marginal fish. I've thought about the Frabil EZ-Checker, but it just doesn't seem like it would be very accurate (I could be way off base there). There is a post on the main forums about the Frabil. I may just get a sharpie and measure me out some tick-marks on the back of a cleaning board or something. I'd like to here ya'lls thoughts on this and what ya use.

Well my practice in the past has been not to catch small crappies that need checking. I go with the 12" rule for all keepers.

I do have a way to check for crappies under 12" but would have my post deleted if I was to tell what it is.

I have a golden rule, but most of the time just use a sticker ruler on the boat.

Does the MDC still have the stickers? I have one left of three and it's in bad shape. They do draw up, curl, and break with time in the sun.

I think so, I seen one laying on the counter at Everhart's in Jeff City last week.

I use the green Grip and Check from Cabelas. Its alittle bigger and will let a thicker fish slide all the way down so you dont get and mismeasurments. It is also indestructable and it floats.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
