    Default LOZ Big Niangua

It was a tough afternoon on Monday for me.

It was very hard to find a place you could even hold a boat in that NE wind.

Water temp has fallen to 58.5-61.

Finally managed 6 keepers with the biggest male at 11 1/2" Only one female and she was still full of mushy eggs. Caught them on Black/Chart jigs and mostly jigging fairly straight down in or over brush. Water is a little more dingy down here, but still good color for fishing. Should get better again this week as it warms up. Sure hope so.

Good luck and safe travels to the guys going on the KS raid!

These up and down water temps make em tight lipped......stay after em Mark the evening bite should be good the next couple of days.

    Guys,
We found them yesterday but....................they were DEEP! They were scattered 16' deep up and down a creek channel lip that was 25' deep! The water temp was 58 - 59 F. Once we found them we were done in about 1 hour! Funny thing is that we found a few fish 16" deep under a bobber in the shallows, but vast majority were deep.

I've been fishing above carnes and as long as there hasn't been any flooding rains limits have been fairly easy to come by,fish logs, beaver dams etc.....they should be on the banks around pb1 this weekend.

Good catches. I wonder how much theses past few cold days and nights have affected the watertemp. and the spawning. At this rate they may still be spawning in June!

We were up above Hurricane Deck. I've never fished that part of the lake before..........it was a LONG, COLD boat ride!

Yes, Mark, Monday was tough for me, just fished off the dock for about an hour, but the bite was a lot different, catching them by casting to 20+ feet of water, counting to 8 or 10, then reeling in slow was the only way I could catch them. Definitely have moved back off the spawning beds down here.

    Great looking fish, knees!

Today would have been a great day to fish but spent 7 hours helping out with some needed work at church. Need to go get out now, tho'!

    Husker
the trick to catch that finnicky speck....
gently set the hook just before the peck
