The forecast for Olive Branch predicted a beautiful day, (for sun bathing) but winds gusting to 17 mph. It had to be better at Enid my brother and I reasoned, so we drove the 60 or so miles. We spent the first couple of hours trying to hide from the wind, but to no avail. Finally, we crossed the lake, safely on the trailer, and relaunched on the other side. Going up the other side looked promising, but the wind found us there too, and those gusts forecast for Olive Branch were mild with comparison. We had one option if we were to continue fishing and that was to anchor around some weed beds, but about 40 yards offshore. We pulled anchor, repositioned, then pulled anchor some more. The good news is, while pulling anchor, we managed to pick up a few nice fish up to 14.5" that still had egg sacs, and the males did not seem to have any stress marks. Perfect tails, etc. The almost big enough ones and the keepers were pretty evenly matched, so we brought home a nice dinner of five gooduns. To keep the interest up, small catfish kept biting our minnows, teasing us momentarily that the bite was really on.

Fortunately for us, we were in our bass Pro 16.5 so the run back to the boat ramp was not hazardous.
