Default NY Crappie On! pics from Fri & Sat

Here are a few from Friday and Saturday.
Just enough for a meal and we left the rest go. :D

    Friday

    And Saturday

The boat ran great and we are only 3 weeks after ice out and just had 3 days of 70's with the top of the water being in the 53-56 degrees. These fish were coming from 5-9 FOW in the weeds.

    Thanks guys.
We are just 3 weeks after ice out up here in NY.
With 1 1/2 weeks of rain and then close to 5-7 days without and the last 3 days of 70 degree temps and 40s at night, it is all starting to turn on great. But it only takes that cold front to turn them off again. The lake has some early growth up shallow and the fish are stagging. Still a good month of fishing before all the spawns. May is always awesome, June can be too up North where the ice, I don't think it's off the lakes yet.

Are you as surprised as I am how quick we went from ice out to the crappie turning on? I'm not complaining, just surprised. In the small, shallow lakes I fish, they're shallow already and the males are starting to get black. Talk about a quick turn-around!

Last week I heard that they were starting to get ice-out on a lot of the waters up north. The weather over this past weekend should have finished the job.
