Default First time out in Ohio, Piedmont lake

Finally I got the Ranger clean up enough to go fishing, what a wonderful day it turn out to be, not a ripple on the water until 11.00 am then the wind pick up a little but still no fish, it was like that until about 4.30 pm when I finally found them none stop till 6.30pm, brought home 20 crappies and 1 saugeye, here's the picture of the first catch. They don't compare in size of your southern crappy but almost. JimName: DSC02834 (Small).JPG

    Jim,

I have fished Piedmont a few times. Spent 30+ years in Akron. Congratulations. That is a nice catch, Go Browns!

Good catch Jim. They're starting to heat up at Mosquito lake in N/E ohio too. I posted a couple pics on the ohio board. Nice saugeye.

You wouldn't happen to be the Jim who showed a couple where the Crappie were on Piedmont in 1968 would you? This guy worked for Ma Bell I think. Anyway, Piedmont and the name Jim just brought back a bunch of memories. That lake can surely produce the Crappie if you know where the submerged trees and fallen trees are. Good fishing, Ferdi aka Fred formerly from Zanesville now stuck in Texas

My wife and i spent our honeymoon there June 1st 1968 and every year for 4 more years before moving away from Zanesville. So I do know for a fact that the Crappie hit the first week of June and especially just prior to one of them storms that seems to come down every canyon and meet in the middle. Love that area and the fishing is always great if you can find the coves with hydrilla or a tree that has fallen in the lake. Enjoy reading your posts, keep them up. Ferdi aka Fred
