I was also over there on 4/19 trying for crappie and only managed two legals and a half a doz smaller ones.
I couldn't say I marked that many where I was searching. I sure didn't find them in and around brush.
I found 52 degree water up in Lomans cove (think that the name) but was undable to catch any up there around the standing timber.
The largest legal was 14" caught while wind drifting parallel to the shore in 19' to 21' of water using tandem jigs on two poles. Made several more drifts through that area with no success.
As it was I probably should have stayed at my closest lake Hillsdale and not made the hour and a half drive over there. The last time over there 3/27 a couple of us brought home 22 nice Melvern crappie. The kind you only measure just to see just how long they actually are. The legal crappie at Hillsdale just don't seem to have the shoulders or humpbacks like they do at Melvern.
Anyhow glad someone was catching them even if you weren't trying for them.
