Thursday - We scouted out Lake Loramie for the first time before the cold front. We have to stay in the no wake zone due to the size of our boat and we had not a solitary bite. The water is shallow in most areas of that lake but there are huge beds of lily pads and other weeds. Nuthin'. Didn't even mark many fish on the sonar. So, maybe we'll reserve that lake for early spring.

Saturday - Headed to our "home lake" Acton post cold front. There was a pretty stiff wind out of the NE, so we stayed pegged to the east shore the first couple of hours working the weedbeds for gills with those horseweed worms CrappiePappy told us about. .We caught 21 gills and Doug caught a 12" bass on them. Terrific little worm - bigger and tougher than a waxie. We caught as many as three fish on the same worm.
After a while we decided to troll the channel for crappie and only boated three - one 12 incher and two small ones. We were in the middle of huge schools of 2" gizzard shad and the we just couldn't compete. Crappie were feeding everywhere on the shad.

Maybe next week. - Roberta
