Nope, I have not forgotten. I initiated a contest in January I think, and I never completed it. Well, here's an update, visit the following page for a listing of the pictures (possible long load times) and an update.

http://www.crappie.com/contest/

I want to thank everyone who submitted piuctures to the contest. You guys are great.

I will post a POLL here soon to determine the winner.

Hey Ed--I don't really see any pics that reach out and grab me. How about reopening the contest to run thru the next coupla months when we're all catching fish?

I agree with kunes. Why don't you open it up again for a couple of weeks and let some more pictures get entered?

Hey Ed -

I am a photographer by trade, and we are going fishing this weekend.

Let me see if I can specifically take one picture for the cause.

I didn't even realize this contest was going on to be quite honest.

Thanks -
GABoy

OK, here's the original info on the contest:

I want a "real" picture of a "real" Crappie, to put on the front of a T-shirt, with the Crappie.com Logo. I'm looking for something great. Either a Monster Crappie, natural looking, with a background I can erase, or a Great Live Crappie, of just a plain great picture that deserves to be immortalized on a Crappie.com T-Shirt.

To erase a background, I’d need the pic to be taken of the fish in front of a solid colored background so that editing software could easily remove it.

Live crappie would be hard to take a picture of in the wild, I’ve taken many pics of my Crappie in the aquarium and am not satisfied with anything I did. If you do this, good luck, there's all sorts of problems like glare, movement, and flash overexposure with trying this.

A pic that deserves to be immortalized might be of one being held up with a great background, great foreground, or maybe a good looking gal holding it up, of course in good taste.

The winner will receive two Crappie.com T-Shirts, one with his/her winning pic, and one of the other new styles I have online. Plus the winner will receive $75. Yes $75 out of my very own “out of work” pocket.

I will place all the pictures online anonymously and will poll the Crappie.com public as to who the winner is.

Consider the contest re-opened. And I'll need a pic with good resolution, probably something at least over 200k in size.

..in #14...but I would rather have #16 on a T-shirt...my $.02...

# 14 is definitely a good picture but everyone is going to be asking "is that your son or grandson". Its like the picture of the little girl holding the crappie. They both belong somewhere like on the front cover of Crappie World. But a T shirt? Something to think about.

I like #16 also, but my heart is with #14. I iwll buy a shirt either way.

The erasure of the background in #14 left a jagged edge on the image--I wonder how it would look on the shirt.

I can fix the edge on #14, and I'm not sure if there are any copywrite issues with #16. I know I've seen it before.

The "is that your son or grandson" issue on #14 is not a problem for me...cause that is my son! He thinks he's a star now....gettin hard to live with.
