    Default How to filet Bream/Crappie

I've never seen this before. Thought I would share it with the Forum. Some of you probably already filet your fish this way.

That dude shore is good with that knife which means he's well practiced. He must be a good gill fisherman.

Pretty much the same as I do, but I don't bother with cutting out the pin bones on the lateral line on panfish. Bigger fish like salmon or steelies, I'll remove the pin bones, but on panfish they're so small, like hairs more than like bones, they cook up so you don't even know they're there.

I do the same thing , only with my electric knife. Maybe i'll record myself and put it on you-tube.

I use an electric knife but just cut through the ribs straight down the backbone to the tail and leave the tail skin attached and just flip the fillet out and run the skin off. Flip the fish and do the same on the other side and you are left with just the rib bone to remove. very quick and easy.

Eh, I just slice down the backbone the whole way then cut off the rib bones. Not much meat to be had over them anyway. Kinda messy though.

I'll try his method to see fi it's quicker. There was articel in Field and STream about filleting by bouncing the knife off the rib bones, then filleting up and over. Made a mess out of the fish I tried it on. This method looks alot cleaner.

Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

And we act like this Nightstalking thing is new.

For some excitment, read the next verse. A special guest arrived, they filled their coolers and had a fish fry on the beach...in the morning. My kind of people.- Bowfin
