Default New Crappie rod and reel ?

Hello all! I want to get a new rod and reel for crappie. I want to give myself the best all-around spinning outfit possible for fishing from bank and boat. What suggestions do you all have? I'm looking for brands. Thanks!

Since you used the word "best", I will suggest a Loomis rod from 6.5-7' coupled with a Shimano reel in the Symetre class or better.

That's not a cheap combo, though.

Your best best if you're planning on just going for crappie for is getting a nice Ultralight rid/reel combo. You can get many 5 1/2-6 foot open face rod reel combos for around $30-$50. Just get a light action and go with 4-6 pound test. No reason to spend hundreds on a brand name when you catch as much fish with off brands for hundreds less... save that money for bait and jigs.

I only use Ugly Stick rods and Shakespear open face reels. Been fishing over 50 years since I was a teenager. Last twenty years or so I have been fishing Ugly.

Who is the manufacturer for the rod and reel? How long is the rod, and what is the line weight?

The loomis rod is one of the best but for the price you can't beat a wally marshall.
