Skip, it seems that blue is THE color so far this year! I've had my best luck with "Powder Blue" flies so far this year. Both the head and body were the same color. Nice looking jig!:D
Keep in mind the wind is blowing 24-7 here with gust to 35 or so. I went to a bigger jig than usual and strolled or short line trolled as the wind will not allow much else. Did stay long and didn't keep them, but the only thing I got hits on was a new on I tied up for personal use. It's also UV Silver tail and they liked it.
Next time I have one more with UV and it's Pearl color.

Hey Skip...what's the water clarity/color on that body of water where "blue" works so well?

I have found once our water clears some, not meaning really clear like some lakes and the sun is out the Blue is THE colors as Fishingdod said. Not just this year though as last year after the early fish were shallow and I got them on a FL Red/Black & Yellow Body/Hot Orange tail the fish were all over a Blue body and white tail. You can see a jig down a little over a foot yesterday where I was fishing. SO not crystal clear by any means, but not muddy either. I would probably go back to FL. Red/Kelly Green/either FL Chart or FL Yellow marabou tail and something when the clouds show up. Oh and when I use the Silver/Lt. Blue/White the tail I find that Hackle is maybe better than marabou and that is another reason I thought this would do well.
The white tail is what made me think this material would be great in place of a white feather tail and it is looking like I could be right.
I will follow this up after a few more trips to see if it holds up. Almost forgot I am going in a little bit again and it's cloudy so I will try it with the clouds and see.

Hey Skip, What size head and hook did you use.
Skip, I ordered 1/16, 1/32, 1/8 with a #4 and 1/4 with #1. Couldnt find 1/4 with #4. I like the small profile of your jig. If not for getting the Earnst vid. I would'nt have given it second thoughts. Do you agree with the same profile for different weights when possible. Thanks
Randy
PS, Happy B-Day
