I too have an old OMC TM and I'm going to cry when I have to replace it, has been the best I ever had. I'm sure I will go with a MK as my buddy has an older MG and I will not run it as it is so hard to use the foot pedal.

thanks so much for the info guys. and steve j, it has been the best i ever had also, it is a 1992 model and i fish once or twice weekly in the summer and every other week during deer season. so its been used a ton. but i'm sure one that you guys suggested will be more than adequate. thanks again guys and good fishing to all

They've come a long way since the early 90's, Minn Kota with auto pilot and the hand remote. It also has built in transducer as well.

Really depends on the type fishing you do and the type boat you have. Everytime I think I have it figured out something new comes along or changes. I have always prefered the hand controlled models for the way I fish. If you troll then the auto pilot model is perfect.

I have two boats so I have a Minn Kota 3x-80# hand controlled on one and just bought a Minn Kota 80# Terrova w/auto pilot for the other.

If you need a budget priced unit get a MK or MG hand controlled model. Both are quality units.
    Good fishing.
