Default What kind of reel do you use with your Mighty Lite?

I use mine with an UL spinning reel, and I know that many others do as well. I've just always wondered if it is made to be used with a different type of reel because the biggest guide isn't big like on other spinning rods. Is there a particular reason for this? I've never had a problem casting with it, but it's always sparked a bit of curiosity for me.

I think it's more of a tite line jig pole used for relatively shallow water fishing with a BnM "line holder" reel. I have one. However, I think it is a bit stiff for that too. Wasn't that thrilled with it. I like the Same Heaton super sensitive for my tite lining. I now use the mighty lite tite lining thick thick cover.

I have a Uncle Bucks mini reel on my Mighty Lite rod,I use it for verticle jigging and it works great and is superlight.

As the other guys have said, I think it's intended for vertical jigging where casting distance isn't a factor. The big guides are for gathering in a big coil of line as it comes off a spinning reel during the cast.
