    Default Dardanelle:Rougher than TAB's Weekend

    Well boys.
A good boat and good electronics don't always put fish in the boat when you need them.

Thursday fished all day without catching a crappie until early afternoon, pulled three out of the hot water ditch and then pulled 20 off another spot. Threw the ones over 12" back.

Friday didn't touch those spots and fished other areas of the lake that were similar. Not a crappie in those areas. Slow Trolled, Fast Trolled, jigged brush piles, cork and bobber. Didn't break out the crankbaits.

Saturday came. Went back to the spot and the current was rollin' hard one direction for about 10 minutes and then flowed that other way just as hard. It was like the lake was breathing. Had to have the trollin' motor on 60 percent to keep the boat steady. No crappie but a $h!t load of drum and sand bass. Went to the Hot water ditch and no crappie. Went to the weigh in with no crappie. First time skunked in a tournament.

Twentysome boats and very few Pros or Amateurs came in with a limit of seven. Dardanelle is so screwed up with the water flow on/off/on/off the crappie were scattered and tight lipped as all get out. Long line trolling was the answer for a few teams that had limits.

    Am I pissed? No
    Am I angry? No
    Did I learn something? Yes

That lake used to be my favorite in the Nation. I just fell to fifth.

Lots more to tell, but I don't want to bore you with the details.

I tied six other boats for dead last.

I wish I had at least one Hog like Travis had one of the days.

I'm gonna kick it 'Old School' down at Eufaula in a couple weeks.

I don't think it could be nearly as bad.

New boat handles 2 foot rollers with no problem.

I went down there with Kit and his dad to fish the tournament as a late entry with his dad as my partner but after 2 days of hard fishing and not catching a crappie we decided not to enter and keep our money. Going with them to Eufaula next hope the fish gods are better to us there. It's going to be tough with all this rain going through there this week.
