Just right...get small(64th oz jigs) and go to the west or north side of the lake.
Fish flooded timber and reeds in 3-5 foot mid afternoon to when the sun hits the trees.
    A silty bottom will help.

    Default rend lake

At rend lake in southern illinois the water temp is about the same. Catching them now about a foot off bottom (12 foot) using jigs. 1/16th OZ.

If there's 50-degree surface temp in the main body, there will be warmer water in the shallows. Like crappiekeith said, the north or northwest protected banks will warm faster. But, also consider wind. If you get a cool wind from the south you'll find some warmer water in the protected pockets on a south bank that day. The crappie are looking for the warmer water this time of year to spawn the first chance they get.
