Default Dead Sea gives up a few

I hit Lake Girardeau aka The Dead Sea this evening and fished an hour and half until dark. Found some in about 20 feet of water about 14 feet down. The specks out there are far and few between but when you find them they are pretty good ones. I wound up with 7 keepers between 10 and 12 inches. All of them caught on a chartruse with red tail Slider grub. I know I missed 3 more keepers, oh well. The cool thing was I caught all of them on my new Pfluger President combo with 6# Mr. Crappie line. I think I'm going to like that combo. Water was still pretty cold, 45-48 degrees. Sorry Jeff, no pics.

Good job Speck. I spent many a day fly fishing for bass on that lake when I was in college. Too bad it doesn't have more crappie.

Mike, I remember back in the 70's when they had a 12" length on bass, There were so many 11 1/2" bass in that lake that you would cach one just about every cast. They finally wised up and made a slot limit and that cleaned out alot of the small bass. They don't pester the hell out of you anymore and there seems to be larger ones there now. They stocked muskies there a few years ago and that seemed to be the downfall of the crappie fishing. The muskies never really took off like they wanted either. It just isn't the same lake that it used to be.
