My limited understanding is that IM7 has more filaments or fibers of graphite and less resin or filler. It's based on so many million fibers per inch or some measure. The more graphite fibers the more sensitive the rod theoretically.

    I like IM$19.95 myself...
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Simply put modulus runs from IM6-IM10 these days. The higher it gets the thinner, stiffer, lighter, higher tech and more sensitive the blank is, oh and the more expensive it is. A lot of companies blend modulus's and claim more strength, durability, sensitivity and lighter weight than single modulus rods, and charge more for them too.
