    Default Loop Knot

Will someone please tell me how to tie a Loop knot OFF OF the main line when trolling 2 or more hooks/minnows. The set up is, bell sinker on bottom..18 inches up line is first loop knot to hook..another 18 inches up is loop knot to hook, etc. I can't seem to figure out the loop knot for this. I know how to tie a loop knot to individual hook @ end of line just not the way I described here. Thanks in advance for your help

Hello, This is one of those things I'm not real good at explaining here, but I can tell you where I learned it. I watched Wally Marshalls first DVD, Crappie Fishing Secrets. During the part where he is tight line trolling in deep water he shows and explains how to do this. The loop knot he uses is very easy to tie and I've straightened out a lot of hooks with it getting unhung.

    Hope this helps! :D:D:D:D

Here is the link for the surgons loop http://www.animatedknots.com/surgeon...s.com#Overhand

Tie the first loop knot approx 36 inches from the end of your line leaving a long tag end. Approx 18 inches below your first knot using the tag end tie the second loop knot and with the tag eng from the second loop knot tie your sinker on.

lbm, thanks that's a good link I've used for a long time. Crappie Slinger, that's where I got the idea for doing the loop knot off of the main line.. was from watching a wally marshall clip trolling (youtube if any one is interested).

I AGREE W/CRAPPIE SLINGER, THE W.M. DVD IS GREAT. I WAS WATCHING IT AT BPS ON AN ENDCAP WHEN I FIRST SAW IT. DIDN'T QUITE FIGER IT OUT SO STOOD THERE AND WATCHED IT TWO MORE TIMES TILL I HAD IT. IS VERY EASY AND QUICK TO TIE. CAN'T EXPLAIN IT THOUGH.

I use the surgeons loop like mentioned before. Very easy to tie, holds great. You can put the hook/jig in the loop when you're tying it or if you want to be able to change them or want to make up a bunch of leaders without hooks, just make sure your hook eye is big enough for the doubled line to go through, then just loop it around the hook and pull tight. That's what I use for saltwater bottom rigs.

This is how Mr Crappie does it. If you go to the 5:56 min mark of video he explains how he ties his rig.

I have been using this one lately and like it very well, easier to tie than some others.
