This is my first post but I am going to jump right in. I have an 18 1/2 foot Ranger boat. I am looking for some way to add another seat to the front deck so I can have my son up front with me. I found one made by Tempress called the Double Down Seat Base(also seen on Wally Marshall web page). I would like to know if anybody has positive or negative input about it or if you could recomend something else. Thanks in advance. I have been viewing the forums for a while and looks like a first class group of folks.

Hmmmm must be from Fern Creek, only creekers I know around here. Welcome to the board from the Lyndon area.
There's a few guys on here that have that seat adapter and there are some that have made their own, but they all seem to love them, as long as you have enough room up front.

Get some bases and a hole saw. Thats the best way. Cut the holes so that you are 21-23 inches away from you rod holders. What is the model on your boat? I have a 522. And i've rigged a 521 and a 488 and a 483. Surely we can get close on some measurements. Oh yeah my father in law has a 393 that I rigged. I don't care for the seat things they sell, especially if a child is involved. You have to turn to the outside of the boat to go to the back. If you do want a seat rig look at the Tite-Lok. It is as safe as I've seen.

i have repositioned several seat bases in boats through the years. normally either closer to the front or rear of the boat. but to the side should be just as easy. its not that hard. just measure twice or 3 times before you cut any holes in your deck. make sure you have room for all your compartment lids to open properly. it is best it you can secure the bases with stainless bolts with stainless washers and stainless nylon locking nuts. if done properly they should out last the boat.
