    Default Newbie at Iowa Crappie

Hi all, I'm new to the board and pretty new to crappie fishing. Started last season with my son to help keep him from negative influences at school. So far he and I love to fish for crappie. I will probably have plenty of questions. First one, anyone have any experience with BnM crappie poles? Not to be used for trolling just casting from the shore. We fish Big Creek, Saylorville and other smaller central Iowa lakes.
I will defend her still today!

Welcome to the site.B&M are great poles.I have a small arsenal of them from 8 foot to 14 foot.My own personal favorite is the 10' brushbuster, but that's just me.PJ

Welcome, you are on the right track with your son

Ordered Earnst Paty crappie 101 fishing, I learned so darn much in one hour.

Personally, you can get lighter rods than the B&M for fishing from shore. As you can tell, there not my favorite.

Welcome to the board. Iowa is not a very active site, but the main forum is where you will learn alot.

welcome Chach! I don't know much about crappie poles, but I take my kids fishing with me as often as they can stand it. That's what makes fishing so much fun in my opinion. I'm always surprised at how few kids I see out fishing. I think the sport looks to be going more exclusive and more expensive. I see lots of 2-man bass boats and very few kids.

Anyway, welcome. You'll learn a lot here and some of these other guys have already pointed you in the right direction looks like.
