    Default Florida speckled perch

We call 'em speckled perch here in Florida. By any name, we love to catch them.

The bite has been on pretty good.

I fly fish for them with my Myakka Minnow or No. 12 bead-head nymph.

Those are some nice fish - from their color, looks like the spawn is in full swing in your neck of the woods.

Those are some nice flies too. They look like good crappie baits. Almost makes me want to go through the garage and find my old fly-rod.

Thanks. I'll bet you catch more on spinning gear or whatever gear you use than I do on fly rod. I got 10 last time out and that's pretty good.

I love taking them on flies. They really put up a great battle on light fly rod. These were taken on 1-weight fly rods.

And, yes, the fish are spawning. They're in the shallows, which make them much easier that when they're in deeper water. When I hook one, I'll stay and fish the area thorougly.
