    Default Chartreuse Color (Tint) Change???

Well I posted/complained on the jig tying board the other day about my latest order for materials that came in the FL Chartreuse I got this time was not like it had been. So I called my supplier and they are a pretty big wholesaler of fly tying materials and ask about this new color tint for FL. Chartreuse to see if I liked it should I get more now or is this a longer term thing.

Well they told me the last time their dye came in it had changed and this will be the Chartreuse for the foreseeable future or at least that is what they think.

Anyway I am just telling you guys and gals about this so you can expect to see this change coming. I like it, but not sure everyone will. I took the picture below, well actually I took several trying to show the difference and this is as close as I got.

Notice how much closer the new chartreuse is to FL Yellow (the yellow Chartreuse) than it is to FL Chartreuse (the green one). It still has a green tint, but not near as much as it was before. I have no idea if this will affect all suppliers or just this one.

The very top is FL Yellow and the bottom jig is FL Chartreuse (the old one) and the middle jig and feather is the new FL Chartreuse.

I like it, and don't mind the change, but it really sucks for people trying to match the same colors that you've been using and offer them to customers.

You're right, much closer to yellow than green chartreuse. However, based on the picture, the old color had more green than I like at the base, blending to yellow at the tips (just personal preference). It's hard to find a consistent green chartreuse that's not too green. The green chartreuse I just got is terrible--to me, looks like just plain light green.
