    Default Headed to Lake Kickapoo

The Wife and oldest Daughter are headed to the State Basketball game in Austin this weekend so my youngest Son, youngest Daughter, and myself are headed to Lake Kickapoo (outside of Wichita Falls) and staying Friday and Saturday night. Not taking the boat since it needs some more work but going to fish the fishing barge. Hope to bring home a huge mess of fish. Going to mainly fish for Crappie and Catfish but will take anything that will bite lol. Going to stay in a Cabin there. Its one heck of a nice place to stay with the best people you will ever meet runing the place.

I'm curious about Kickapoo and Arrowhead, since my daughter's a rad tech at Kell West Hospital in Wichita Falls. Need to take my water wagon and start fishing when I go visit, the casinos in OK are scalping me!!!

Kickapoo Fishing Camp has 4 cabins and a fishing barge there. Great fishing and even better people. The # is (940) 525-4431 and the address is 173 Catfish Rd. Holliday, TX 76366 Better take cash because they dont take credit cards there. They sell bait right there at the fishing barge and they also sell ice out there and small things like ketchup and stuff incase you forget that. The cabins come fully equiped with a full sized kitchen and bathroom and have a grill outside also. You only need to bring your bedding sheets and pillows and your towels and washrags and soap. All utensils, pots/pans, and dishes are supplied. I hope this helps and Good Luck

How's the fishing at Kickapoo other than the crappie house? Is there much structure in the lake for summer fishing? Standing timber, man made brushpiles?

Not much standing timber. There is some when the water is up when you go out of the boat ramp at kickapoo and go around to the left. I have had a lot of luck over by the natural dam by the rocks on crappie, catfish, sand bass, and black bass. You know to me going somewhere is not only all about the fish (if im staying a night or two) but the people. The very first time I went to Lake Kickapoo, everyone I met I felt I had known them all my life. But I have also been accused of being able to talk to a fence post if it would talk back. I think one did one time hehe.
