    Jigster,

I caught these today in Lake Houston. I fished all day, from 6am till 6pm. Gentle Ben went with me early but had to go in at 10Am. By then I only had one fish. We fished for about one hour in deep water (12foot deep) and ben caught one throwback. I caught all mine in shallow water 1-2 feet deep.
A friend of mine was fishing in his boat in the same cove I was in this morning early. He had caught 3 or four fish before I left the cove to run across the lake and check out another spot. When I took Ben back to the boat ramp, my friend was pulling his boat out, said he had to go to work. He commented that when the wind switched to the East at 9am, the fish quit biting. He had caught 10 crappie by 9am. He was using minnows. I only use jigs. Maybe I could have caught more with minnows today, but I doubt it. My friend is just skilled at fishing minnows shallow in brush. When I try it, I spend more time tieing on hooks than I do fishing.

Gotta love the crappie. Probably the most weather/time/moon sensitive fish known to man. Biting like hell one minute, non-existant the next. It's like they all have PMS.
