Thumbs up 10-12 Ft Crappie Rods

    Am I missing something here?

Why would one want a reel with 10 ft pole.
Would think (Cane pole days) that you would lift the pole straight up and swing the hooked fish to you.

Here is neat aritcle on 10 foot poles

Having a reel helps if you hook a big fish or if you're jigging in water deeper than the length of the pole.

I fish 24 ft deep in the winter, try pulling in the extra 12 feet of line by hand with out it tangling around everything in the boat.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
Also, a good 6.5-7.5 foot rod would probably do all you could want if you don't want to buy several different ones for each situation. And a big spool of 6 pound test would do just fine for pretty much any situation. 8 pound if you have a bigger reel.
