Tying Book

I am very green when it comes to tying. Looking for a book with patterns and how to. Thank you very much. Anyone in the Jordan Lake North carolina area looking to teach someone about crappie fishing I am your student. Thanks again

Here are two good ones. Neither one shows how to tie jigs (I don't know of any book that does.) But they will teach you tying techniques. Also, they both show you how to tie the Woolly Bugger. The basic "chenille and marabou" jig is just a simplified Woolly Bugger.

This book only teaches 6 or 7 patterns, but they're 6 or 7 UNIVERSAL trout patterns. (The Woolly Bugger will catch anything, though -- trout, bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, carp.)

I'd also suggest checking out youtube for some good videos. Bass Pro has a great jig tying video as well.

I bought the video separately, but it's the same one. It starts out with Lefty Kreh tying some bucktail (hair) jigs. I'm pretty sure he also demonstrates the whip finish by hand.

The rest of the video is a Bass Pro employee demonstrating other jigs (marabou with a thread collar, marabou and chenille, etc.) It's a good video.

I just bought the kit a week ago, I haven't had a chance to open it yet. I also found a skycomish fly tying video at goodwill for $1.49.

Here is AN EXCELLENT book for beginners. I read mine at least once a week. I highly recommend this or Bob Clouser's book.
