Photo of your first shallow water slab of the year?
We're iced in here, and I'm going nuts waiting for spring, so a photo of a nice fish like that would lift my spirits a little.
Was down by my boat house throwing a 1/8 oz. black marabou with worm tail & a #1 Sickle hook trying to entice a bass for fun and wham, that big old crappie hit and I could lifted him up to me. He was almost too big to lift at about 16". I call that jig "Black Mamba" and make it mostly for bass in the spring.
Goes to show they will hit a pretty big bait.

No pic as I was shocked to catch him. Thought about keeping him but couldn't find my little net thing to hold fish and no place to put him so pitched him back in. Now that did hurt my feeling though, LOL!
If I had gone to get my camera he/she would have not made it so no pic this time. I was so surprised at catching him. I didn't think any of them had moved shallow yet, but some have evidently.
Still was fun!

Skip, I thought you were going to use your fly rod for shallow water!
I am but the wind is blowing right in to my dock at probably 20 MPH or more and only pitching that jig out about 10' so I don't think that fly rod would do very well, LOL!
Catch em on what I can when I can is deal and fly fishing on this dday would be very tough.
