The Volunteer Firefighter





Theres a special person, one who saves lives

They are Mothers, Fathers, Husbands and Wives

They will work all day for no pay at all

No matter what time it may be they are always on call

They do what they love with a smile on their face

If you need them they will be there, no matter the place

When the tone goes out, they change their plans

Just to lend you their helping hands

Most calls are thrilling but yet some are sad

For some things they see are very bad

The bad things they see weigh heavy on their heart and soul

But they keep moving forward for helping others is their goal

They put their life on the line for those they have never met

Yet a thank you is something they rarely get

The award they get is the feeling deep in their heart

The feeling of helping others, that's the very best part

When the call is over and they go their separate way

They often pray to the Lord and thank him for a safe day

These men and women are very good at what they do

For they are the Volunteer Firefighter, the Brave and Few
