After recently purchasing my first pontoon boat, my granddaughter suggested we should name it.

My daughter suggested = Happy Crappie....
My grandaughter suggested= The Crappie Family

Are we being a bit silly naming a boat?

What names do you guys have for your boats if named?

I had a buddy of mine that named his boat "Sick Leave".

He said he would call his boss and tell him he would be out on sick leave for a couple of days. He said his boss never caught on.

I had a fellow preacher friend that named his boat "VISITATION". Any time someone called his office and he was out fishing his secretary could honestly tell them "He is out on visitation"!!!! Stay safe and have a great year.

I think names are great. Even if not printed on the boat, it is fun when a name is known to the family, friends, and those that know her!

It all started like this, i had a 1957 crestliner deep vee with a 1959 johnson 35 hp that i paid 1000 for. this boat was in the shop all the time, a nickle here, a nickle there until i had paid 2000 nickles had gone buy! each time they would call the shop Randall would answer and have to come get me, after hearing several conversations (i think what did it was that i told the boat shop that all i wanted to do was take my lil girl fishing) Randall asked me if i wanted his boat? i said sure ill look at it. he asked me if i would get the boat trailer tire fixed? i said sure so i did. Randall told me to take her home and i did, i knew he wouldnt screw me even if the selling price hadnt been discussed. the next morning i find the title and a bill of sale for the ammount of 1 dollar and other conciderations. Randall and i remain friends to this day! Since the pic was taken, we have added a few extras 2 eagle 320 fish finders, a motorguide 50 ld trolling motor, new bases and pedistols, carb work, new batterys, rewired all the lights and pumps and arieators, and removed most all of the decals (i'm in the process of havin custom decals made) and we are about to start restoring the top to get rid of the oxidation.

I've seen many...Tapped the Til (house boat), In the Red (bright red go fast boat), Daddy's Money (go fast), Momentary Lapse of Reason (several times), Kasskat (Basscat owned by a funeral director), Floatin' Bucks, Miss Behavin', Tradin' Up Soon (very small daycruiser), and it goes on....

I love Fat Bottom Girl Darryl...that is good. By the way, I admire that boat. I am guessing she is an excellent crappie rig.

Miss Judgement must have faulty electronics...I think they would be deeper than that...lol.

Heck yes I named my boat. I name everything with Biblical theme or after girlfriends. My boat is called the "Pale Horse" as in the pale horse of the apocalypse in Revelations. My turkey gun is called the "Steel Serpent of Righteousness", my bow is called the "Judgement", and other guns are named after girlfriends: Brooke, Lindsay, Lauren, Rachel...

First boat was an old Jon 15' with just a TM. I told my friends then I bought it because I needed the "Therapy" and the name stuck. Then came Therapy II, a 1964 Avalon runabout I bought cheap that ran good. Then I bought the old trihull I have now, a 77 Chapparal walk thru and decided I had had enough "Therapy" and found my "Serenity" on the water so she is "Serenity". I look forward to the next yr-18 months when I will be $$ ready to shop for my first "real" fishing machine!! She will be "SerenityII" I think.

I had a friend driving my 16' flat bottom jon boat. He went and picked up 6 girls at the shore:) (that's right, 7 total in my little boat.) He was headed to a group of other boats to disperse the crowd of people on my boat when he headed straight into a big wake--STRAIGHT into the wake. :eek:You can imagine what happened. All the water came over the front of the boat, so....they all ran to the back of the boat, which made the back start to go under and take on more water. So...they all run to the front and the same thing happens. Finally they decide to spread out in the boat and it stabilizes. I was waterskiing behind another boat and saw most of this happen:mad:. I flagged the driver of the boat I was skiing behind to swing me over that way. I skied right up to the boat and started yellling for everyone to get the **** out of my boat. :eek:they were all standing on the bench seats bailing out water as fast as they could with their hands cupped together. My boat had only about an inch or two showing above water. So as I was making everyone jump out of my boat, I climbed in and idled it back to the bank and up river to the ramp where I loaded it on the trailer and pulled the plug. twenty minutes later, it was back to partying and joking about the whole situation. Someone said, Man how did your little boat not sink. That was a miracle. I said it may be small, but it's like the titanic, UNSINKABLE. Someone shouted out " you should call it the little titanic, or "Lil' Tit" for short. So I now have had a boat named the "LIL' TIT." for more than 10 years. I had another really close call at lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, for those of you who are familiar. It is a mad house of huge pleasure boats during the summer with constant 2-4 swells from all the boat traffic, no place for a little flat bottom.
