A large 3/8 oz double willowleaf spinnerbait. It has a pair of #5 willowleaf spinner blades on it. Looks like a school of shad going through the water to me. They usually hit it in cover during the spring.

I've seen others catch and caught several crappies on trolled or cast muskie baits as big as 7 inches. I have also gotten several on a 5 inch twisters while walleye fishing.
Good things come to those who bait.

    Wink For me ....

personally ... 4" Gene Larew Plastic Craw, and also on a 1/4oz crankbait.

I've had fishing partners that have caught them on 1oz spinnerbaits, and various crankbaits.

Crappie were not the targeted species in any of these cases :p

38 special spinner bait with #7 charturce willow leaf blade. Big boy crappie fish, May 1994.
Also got a 8+ lb largemouth with the same spinner the same day. Bass is mounted and so is the spinner.

That why I knew the month. Purdy fish.
