If you fish it up (same direction as hook), it takes more speed to make it move (and can get hung on your hook point easier). Fishing tail down will impart more action. But tail up is not always bad; sometimes they want less action.
When do you fish the tail up or down on a grub?? Is it the weight of the jig head or the speed of the retrieve??

Jeremiah 16:16a "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the Lord, "and they will catch them."
down all of the time for me
Get the net!
I super glue mine on so that the tail is down. It works better for me that way.
I stuff my tubes with sponge ( use tweezers) The makes them strong and holds attractant longer.

Down, but I really don't think it makes much difference in the long run. I know lots of people who fish them up, but they remind me of those simple minded folks who fish with their spinning reels upside down and reel backwards.
Good things come to those who bait.
I fish it down. I guess speed vs. weight depends on what you are asking about. Action of tail - I think speed of retrieve effects it more than jighead weight. I frequently change up retrieval speed, but seldom change my jighead weight. Only use 1/16 oz or 1/32 oz (well on rare occasions will go to something different)
Guess I'm in the minority here....When I fish a curly tail (witch is rare) I fish it up. No reason, just always done it that way....
I fish them down - only because it keeps the tail from getting hung up on the hook.
More action when turned down.
