Default Where do you go to get your sticks

I just thought I would ask where you guys get all of the 1x1 or 2x2. Are you buying those??? I figured you were getting them free from somewhere?

It's funny that I saw your question. Just last week I stopped by a cabinet maker who is making an island for our kitchen. As I was leaving, I noticed he had a ton of strips of solid oak. Most of them were about 1x1's. I asked him what he did with them and he said it was his trash pile. I asked him if I could have some, I was thinking of using it for fireplace kindlin. He said he'd load me up if I wanted the stuff. If you know of a cabinet maker in your area, you might get all you want by asking.

    Default Sticks

I get mine from a Millworks shop.... they make molding of all kinds...
They use 90% hard wood and a little pine.....
And best of all it is FREE and they will load the bundles for you with a fork lift......:D
The photo is a bundle I got.... I have already took about 200 sticks out when I took the photo.....

    And this is what I make... 4', 5' & 10' tall......
I have made 35 so far out of that bundle....

Get the buckets & sand FREE.... just have to buy the cement... I mix my own concrete.... about 6" of concrete in each bucket.... I drill holes in the bottom of the buckets to let the excess water drain out so the concrete will set up quicker....
    Good luck and good fishing....

Crappie Texan, Where are you getting your buckets from? You don't ever try and reuse them?

Try a local small saw mill. Here we can pickup slabs and scrap boards for free. Helps to keep the owner in fish too.:D
