    Question troller in water

When deploying your troller in the water, how deep do you place the head for best performance? I have a MK PD and the shaft on it is a little longer than I think I need, but I got a real good buy on it, new in box for $250.

that to me will vary i fish some rougher raised lakes with bigger waves so i usually run mine deeper...there is a rule of thumb when buying a trolling motor tho.. measure from the side of your boat to the waterline and add 23 inches and you will get approximate shaft length you need. it is better to have a longer shaft then a shorter one cause you can usually raise it as high as you want

John, when you say measure from the side of the boat, are you talking about at the gunwale or at the transom?
