    Default Baitpump Question

Anybody use the baitpump with smelly jelly?
I know most everyone uses the nibbles but I have never used them. I love the smelly jelly and would like to be able to put it inside of my tubes.
I was wondering if the pump will work with the jelly or will it leak by the plunger?
I tried the search function but couldn't find anyone using anything but the nibbles.

    Thanks

Do you make the smelly jelly from the crystals?

I'm no trying to poo-poo the bait pump, but why not just try a syringe from tractor supply? They're only a $1.00 or so and I've used them even with the crappie nibblets, so I would imagine it would work great with the jelly. JMO

    Default It oughta work

I use the liquid type Berkley attractant to soften up the nibblers in bait pump & it doesn't leak out past the o-ring seal.

gone fishin' - thanks for that info. I did not know that it had an o-ring. That should hold the jelly in.
    I'm going to order one.

I had a couple of the baitpumps, dropped one and broke the tip, chunked it. been using the syringe since old cajun dave showed me he was using one couple years ago, cheap and work great with niblets or the solid troutbait. just break the needle off and use it for a cap. the ones we use are about 5/16 to 3/8" diameter and so much easier to fill a tube than the bait pump. try it and you'll like it.
the smell jelly may be a bit "juicy" for the syringe, make sure the "needle cap" doesn't leak but it should fill a tube quick. got a buddy that soaks little cotton balls in attractants and keeps them in a small ziplok bag and puts a ball or two up the tube butt, he thinks the attractant last longer - makes sense.

    good fishin'

I've tried the syringes, and they are terrible compared to the bait pump. I will NEVER go back. I don't know about the smelly jelly, but the bait pump is the ONLY way to go on crappie nibbles and tube baits!
