Default Cleaning the Bottom of Boat?

How do you guys get up under there and get the bottom side of the boat cleaned up. I know that a "dirty" bottom hurts performance.:D
    What's your secret?

FYI- Today I used a Scotch Brite/Non Scratch pad on the sides and back of my boat to geth the scum line off. It was the best thing I've used thus far. came right off with little scrubbing over and over again.

if you've got a hard surface to park on get an automotive type scooter, the kind you lay on, and slide right under. just a thought. or you could put the boat in the water and get some SCUBA gear and do it under water. LOL

I have gotten to where I seem to let mine go too long between cleanings so I usually use clorox and hot water to clean the dirt off then use a wash and wax back on it. I used to give 'er a bath quite often and used the wash and wax and it did alright. The clorox and hot water cuts the scum off good, 'course it removes any wax you might have on it too.

Make sure you do not wax the bottom of the boat. As it will slow it down.
I always just wait until its warm and use the car wash. to clean the bottom.
But I know with the new boat being white, I may be cleaning more.

That's interesting Pete. I would a never thunk it. Wax= slow, Do you know why that is? I would like to know the science behind that.

Try Simple green. Mist it on direct, then wipe off with old towel or BVDs. Do a small area at a time (2x2 ft). Rinse with water after completing boat. Easy as pie.

This is what Brenda told me.

It has to do with a rough surface of the bottom running better on water.
Never did sound right to me. But sure found out. Put a good wax on the bottom of my bass boat. After being told by a guy that it would slow it down.
Well it took 5 MPH off the top speed. Stripped it off. And got that back.

I have read about waxing the bottom of the boat slowing it down. According to Bass and Walleye boats magazine, the wax causes the water to stick to the bottom. The beading effect of the wax slows the water from sliding across the hull. The guys in the magazine did a test of a Bullet bass boat, and found that a wet sanded hull is the fastest. They also said to get the best performance you needed to fill in any shallow spots and sand smooth any hooks on the bottom. And that the angles on the bottom needed to be sharp, not rounded. The boat that they tested gained about 5 mph top end with this being done. If I remember correctly a wax job on the bottom of the hull slowed it down about 4 mph.
