My first jig

One of many to come, I think i have alot to learn, for starters useing tools made for fly tieing and not sewing lol. Btw that is the cheap little vice i bought.

Not bad, really. I like the Mimic Minnow heads too, but they're a bit expensive.
You might want to shorten the hair a bit, I usually don't go over 1 times the length of the hook on jigs.
Just remember to keep the thread tight, especially on the first couple of wraps (which are the ones that really count, anyway). This will keep the hair locked in.

Overall nice effect with the white underbelly, hunter green sides and black lateral line. It will catch you some fish.

The most important visual (if you are selling them) is the wrap and quality of construction. There is no one who wants a jig if it tears up after only a few casts. A good base coat of thread wraps, minimum materials, (Less = More) and a quality and neat thread wrap with some locking agent (head cement, hard as nails, etc) is what you are looking to achieve.

For your first effort, that is outstanding though. Keep up the good work. Shorten the tail just a smidgeon......though.

Hey thanks gus for the positive comments! As far as making to sell i will direct anyone to you guys. This is just something for me to do and try to keep sane untill the weather warms up. A friend of mine not to far from me does a little fly fishing. He gave me some material and loaned me a bobben. Everthing else was what i had on hand in the house while i wait for the corect tools and materials to come in. The water i fish here is very clear. I have tryed some of the brite color "store" bougt jigs but they dont like them. Seems dark or more natural colors work best for the area.

Enrico Puglisi 3d fiber. The black is polor fiber. I really like how durable it is and its easy to tie. Blend it together with an old tooth brus and run it under hot water to set the fibers. It realy moves in the water.

It looked like the same material I saw on a jig at Bass Pro made by SPRO. Looks good!!!
