I've always heard of people using ceramic sharpening sticks. Never done it myself though.
My electric knife is as old as the hills but it is a good knife. It has become dull and has never been sharpened but I really like it with its variable speed trigger and long blades. The blades are stainless steel and are flat on the back and serrated on the other side with equal cups between the points. The points hav become somewhat dull and I need to resharpen the knif but wanted to get some suggestions on just how to do this. Thanks for any help.

I use a ceramic round stick, and it works well, as long as the blade is not abused.
I've tried a few things and none have proven to be very effective. I just buy replacement blades for my American Angler. I usually go through about 4 blades and two motors a year.

According to these folks, http://www.accusharp.com/uses.asp#, "they say" the #001 model will do it. Been tempted to try one just to see, but 99.9% of these "wonder-tools" just don't do what they say they will. Let us know if you get one and it truly works.......

Even if you resharpen them, sometimes the wear is on the rivet joint that holds the two blades together. When there's a space between them, it's the same effect as a dull knife.
That being said, I resharpened one set, then just started replacing them.
Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
Heard that a rat tail chain saw file will work too. Not tried it yet.

I have tried most every way and the best way is to buy new blade's. really the ones I sharpened lasted a couple of round's of cleaning fish then needed to be sharpened again... seemes like once you sharpen them they are crap after that. good luck
what brand is it replacement blades are pretty reasonable
