As many of you know, my boat turned 25 yrs old this year! I got if from a guy that left it outside all the time. my problem is what to do about the oxidation on the top coat any ideas

If you run your hand over the top cap is it rough or smooth? If it is smooth use this Protec Nu Paint Moisturizer if it is rough you may need to wet sand.

I Bought One From My Brother In-law His Father Bought New In 1980 Always Left Out. Black With Sliver Flakes In It Rough Sanded It Had A New Coat Of Clear Coat Put On It Shined Like A Brand New One Done It With My Father So It Didnt Cost Much .gallon Of Clear Some Hardner Turned Out Nice.

600 grit may be a little much depending on how far gone it is. I would start at 1000 and work my way up then polish and wax. Check out BassBoatCentral they have a restoration forum with alot of good info.
3m makes some restorer wax,cleaner products. You can find these at wally world or larger outdoor retailers. A friend told me about it and says he has had some bad boats and it helped. He's always dealing in older boats "there as good as new ones" he says except 10 times cheaper. I used it and it helped the finish on mine. I think the one I used had green on the label.
