You could make some lively jig tails from the fluffy part of feather on the bottom, below the smooth top of the feather.

They look more like a type feather you would use tying flies. However you could probably cut the main part of the feather like I do my "V" in that slide show. Then you can stack them maybe 3 at a time and tie it in as a tail that looks much like hair tail, but it would be feathers.

These feathers are not like the hackle we use to tie our jigs with, but I think you can utilize them with your personal jigs and they will work well I bet.

I have done that with hackle I use because I have so many left over of the little "V"s and use them without the main tip part of the feather.

Also you can cut the bottom fluffy part in little V's too and use them like OKSTATEjiggy said. It will be a lot like a marabou tail.

    Hope this helps,

If you look at my little slide show the first few pics show how I start and you will see how I cut the feather up and then stack the pieces. You just use the little V's and stack them, then pinch them together and tie it in for your tail.

You may even cut a small (short) piece of the middle tip to use on a tiny jig like a 1/64 or 1/32 with a #8 hook. Add a couple of the V's on top of that.

Well said. Should make some pretty good "Quiver jigs" and Marabou jigs.
Google Quiver jig or go to dogpile.com and type in quiver jig.
