    Default whip finish tool

I've seen mentioned in a couple of post that the whip finish tools shown within those post are not for jig tying, if not what are we to use. I've used mine with success but maybe I doing something wrong, like not following directions and maybe thats why it works. Set us straight, Oh Masters.

PawPaw; I'm not a master, but I looked on your other post and saw your whip finisher and it's the same kind I use. It works great and lets me make a good jig for about .20 cents and catch just as many fish as the $2 ones people buy. Maybe you and I both are doing something wrong, but HEY if it works then let's keep doing it!!

if you tie it you can sure whip finish the head fly or jig, although they do make several sizes, nutz if you can whip finish large saltwater jigs ,you sure can whip finish white pearch jigs.

You are one of the luck ones and that is the atyle you need for jigs, but many of the kits come with one that is a different style and is for tying around just a hook eye and can't work over a jig head. Many kits come with a Thompson Style.

Here is a pic of the different styles...

Why spend money on a whip finish tool when you can do it by hand, and faster. That is the way i do all my jigs and flies.

I don't think I'd be much, I've only used mine for dry flies. But if one of you has a new secret up your sleeve I'm all ears.

I don't get it either Buckeye Mike - for crappie jigs. Wrap with the bobbin, then 2 lightning quick twists of the finger and drop the loop over the head [instant half-hitch]. Done. But then, even a bobbin isn't necessary either.
