    Default Dumbbell Eyes!!

Are there any specific type of hooks to use with the dumbbell eyes and would the eyes be heavy enough for the jig to sink without adding extra weight?

Some people use jig hooks without any lead poured on them and tie them closer style.
But they are normally tied on hooks like a clouser and fished on a fly rod, though you can rig them for crappie as well.

It will sink them, but it may be slower sinking than a say 1/16th oz jig, depending on the weight of the dumbbell.

I tie my clousers with dumbbell eyes on I believe the model is 2546 Daiichi hooks. They're saltwater hooks, but can be used in freshwater as well. I live near the coast and want them to be multi purpose. For crappie I use #6 hooks, and also tie #4 and #1 hooks.

You can buy fly popper hooks that have a V bend in the shank to tie them in too.
