A....yes a ceramic bobbin and size is a matter of preference.
B.... I like using 210 denier flat waxed for the most part, but have some 3/0 and 6/0.
    C....Chenille size I use #2
D....Marabou Blood Quills is what I use.

Addiction? Well don't be surprised if you end up with way more than you ever though in materials. If I told you how much money I have spent in just feathers it would shock you I feel sure. Of course much of that is in capes and saddles for flies. I knew yesterday I should not have called Conranch Hackle as it cost me another $145!

    Hope this helps,

This is such a fun hobby though. The joy is in seeing the first fish you catch on your jig you tied. Skip gave you some good advice.

I try and get some tails from my local taxidermist and a few hunters on this board. I shoot a few squirrel myself and cut off their tails, and I buy Marabou at my local bait shop.

As Skip said, ceramic bobbin is the way to go and size is your preference. I personally use 6/0 Uni thread and it is great stuff! Very strong for the size! I use #2 chenille/medium and for marabou I use strung marabou which I think is pin.

I agree with what's been said.
A - Go with a ceramic bobbin and you'll be glad you did.
B - I usually use 210 denier flat waxed nylon thread, but I'm starting to like 6/0 thread a lot better for jigs. I usually grab 6/0 when I have it to match the body color. But for starters, I'd use 3/0 or 210 denier flat waxed nylon.
C - The size chenille most jig tiers use is size two/medium. They're the same thing.
D - For marabou, I use the little packs from tying stores. 1/4 oz. blood quill packs I believe.
