    Default crappie clubs

A buddy has talked real serious about starting a club hear in North Alabama. He is the perfect man for the job, but he asked me to do a little research.

Are any of you in a club, or know of clubs in your area? How much are dues? Does your club have tournaments locally? What kind of things do you think you benifit from being in the club.

Our real focus will be possible tournaments and having several days in the year where the clubs can have a habitat day to build structures for fish in our local lakes.

I would appreciate any help on this matter.

Slabmaster we just started a Crappie Club in Northwest Louisiana. Our first meting was to elect the officers and astablish rules. The entry fee is $20.00 + $5.00 for big fish the membership is $20.00 per year. We took Crappie Masters rules and altered them to fit what we all agreed on. If you now someone that wright,s your local sports in the News Papper some times they will run a free spot in it that you can use to recute members. Make up handouts and put them in place you can. We went to local B P shop when Walley Marshell was here and also passed them out thair. We have it whare you can fish individualy and don't have to fish as a team our first tournament is going to be on the 26th of this month.

There is the Alabama Crappie Association. It is a good organization and they fish alot of Northern Alabama lakes. For more information, contact their secratary, Joe Thomas (his information is on SoutherPro.com) or Mike Tubbs at 205-384-4394. Hope this helps.

There is Crappie Unlimited www.crappieunlimited.com. They have had habitat day to build structures for fish on Lake Weiss. They have been slow about getting their members only section of the web page up, but they respond to questions and can be very helpful. Their forum is not used much and they are talking about closing it. Just some more info for ya.

Our club meets 1 day a month at the beginning of the month we mark which saturdays or sundays you can fish. Which everday has the most people we fish that day. We draw partners each time, you can not fish with the same person in calender year. Then each boat votes for the lake, ramp, start and stop time. 15$ for the tourne 5$ for big fish, club gets 10% of tournement money. We have a payback depending on how many boats enter. We pay back 1 in 3 boats. Our yearly dues are 30 bucks, at the end of the year we pay out 100$ for biggest fish, 100$ for yearly total, and $100 for biggest combined 3 toure weights. We have 12 club tournements a year 2 which are 1 co-ed where we try to get the women envolved and then open tourne each year to get a 20 or 30 boat tourement. And we also do a couple of fish frys each year. Right now we have between 25-30 memebers.
