Looking good Jerry. You gonna make me run away from home with all these pics.
I had the privilege of introducing 10-year-old Christian to Crappie fishing this morning. He had never caught a fish before but you wouldn't know it by the way he handled a 10' crappie pole. He picked up on my slip-float fishing system real quick. The first fish he reeled in was a 15-inch White Crappie that weighed 2-pounds even. I think he may have out-fished the rest of the crew and later in the day he caught a 16.5-inch Black Bass. Judging by the smile on his face I think I've "ruent" another youngster on fishing.
We ended up cleaning 40-fish and released at least 20 small crappie, bass and bream. We also "took a look at" another 7 or 8 keeper size crappie that didn't quite make it to the net so we had a busy day.
I was surprised the fish were cooperating at all since we had a major cold front pass through just yesterday. We had to fish a bit deeper, real tight to the cover with smaller minnows and set the hook at just the right moment but we got a lot of action and had a great day. It just goes to show that you don't know until you go!

:D
Okay, and play hockey. And drink scotch. And drive my cat nuts with those laser pointy things...
Where do I sign up at?
Jerry that kinda brings back memories of the time back in 1982 that I took a neighbor kid (15) on his first fishing trip. He caught several fish using my tackle. Three days later he stole all my tackle out of the boat. Keep your eyes on those kids.
Kids doomed to a life of fishing now. He'll be too broke from buying bait and tackle to drink and do drugs with his friends. He'll be an outcast because he'll be out casting. Good job, keep up the good work. Great feeling when you put a youngster on fishing.
Nice catch Jerry! That's a nice fish for that young man.
