I use a small propane torch set at it's lowest setting and hold the jig head in the flame about one second (a few tries and you will get the timing down) then dip the head in the paint, shake and hang. It's done, dries hard as rock and no baking required. If you use two colors or clear coat, just dip in first, immediately dip in second and hang.
I add glitter in my clear coat.
About colored heads. I've done well with painted heads and well with plain lead heads. I don't think it matters to the fish. I do it because the're pretty painted.
Good fishing.
I use a long nose pliers. hold jig by the eye, hold over candle 10seconds,dip in powder, hang on soup bowl with 100watt light bulb over the top of the bowl when I'm done painting, the jigs are as done as they are gonna get no problems, look good....mtcw
I use longnose pliars to hold them. I then heat them with a bic lighter for a few seconds then dip them in the paint. I then tap as much excess paint off as possible. The this is the funny part. We have a Ronco Rotessiry. I hang my jigs on the rib rack and THEN, I SET IT AND FORGET IT. It works great. The wife isn't all that impressed but I bought for her.
