If you were catfishing you might use it for bait.
Went out to charge the boat batteries, opened the back hatch and this little guy was sitting on top of my battery and jumped and ran up in the hull. I went to the house and got a trap and cheese and GOT 'EM. First rat I have ever seen in the boat. Any of you have that problem?
Not quite the Catch you were thinking, huh?

Don't know about your little friend, but mice love to chew on Electric wires. Boat that is stored in old barn on a farm I put mothballs in it, couple of boxes in plastic trays. Boat kept in garage has Bounce fabric softner dryer sheets(ones marked full strength) in every compartment(3 or 4 per). never have had a problem. Okay boat does smell a little on first day trip but Oh well :p

Kinda like the time my pops uncovered his ranger and found momma kitty with kittens under the console!
Mothballs and urinal cookies. Keeps critters out. Never figured out how to keep dirt dobbers away. I tried cedar chips, boards, etc, it didn't work.Originally Posted by jaxsprat

I had a feral cat that liked to use my boat as her sleeping quarters. My apt complex managers trapped several of these loose cats, but never could fool this particular one into the traps. She had one (surviving ??) kitten, and apparently hid it in my boat, unbeknownst to me of course
I didn't find out about it until I was on the lake, and started hearing "mews" coming from somewhere in the boat. This was after a 1.5hr road trip, at 65mph on a Parkway, launching the boat, and a couple of miles of choppy water ride to my fishing spot !! Wasn't anything I could do about it, right there & then, anyhow. I figured that "momma" would miss her kitten, and when I got home & parked the boat, that she would "move" to safer quarters. Well, she didn't ... and the kitten got to go on another fishing trip, a week later.
About a week after that second trip, I had a fishing buddy going with me ... and while we were loading the boat with our stuff ... he hollars at me "is this your cat in here ??"". I guess the thought of a third wild ride in the hull of the boat, was a bit too much for the kitten to handle :D
I told my buddy to take the kitten over to the area where I usually parked my boat, and leave it there ... in the hopes that momma would come fetch it. But, after all those thrill rides ... I'm pretty sure that kitten was too psycho for even momma to handle.
Anyway ... I never saw momma or the psycho kid, after that. I can only assume that they found a more peaceful and safe place to go to.

Had a couple of alum boats I kept finding small bits of floation foam in. after being stored upside down, I guess they liked they warmth. Started fillin the boat with water to find leaks, you guessed it, here they come. After moving them out of the boat, kitty gave us presents fo a few days.

Squirrels not good for your vessel either. Had one chew up a fuel line with fuel in it. Tuff buggers.
