I just discovered that Humminbird has a new software update for the 797c2 SI (and probably the 997). It's version 3.940. If you have your unit registered you can download the softare update from your "My Humminbird" page on their website.

I believe I read where each model 797, 987, 997 each has its own update code number.

yes, The update is out there for the 997, just updated mine last week.. Slick.. biggest change is the menu escape without having to scroll back to the top.. Also keeps the backlight function from going to "10" each time unit is turned on..

Here's what is says on the HB website about the software update - "v3.940 Rotate through the menu tabs and items. Make the MMC/SD/Chart info boxes on the GPS Diagnostic View more informative. Support dimmer backlight levels. Doesn't turn on backlight at max brightness when the power key is pressed. Resolve InterLink coordination problems between chartplotters and trackplotters. Reset the connection to an InterLink after reprogramming it. Fix slider menu item "jump back". Fix a problem with tide and current charts showing for the next day if it is already the next day in GMT. Fix a Bird's Eye View land rendering problem. Re-sort the accessory list when the language is changed. Report speed in tenths of mph. Improve deep water depth algorithm performance. Various cosmetic corrections and improvements."

Don't look like they fixed what I wanted fixed. Maybe next time. Waypoint font way too big and you can't change the waypoint character size. Cluttered.

Just registered my unit online and version 3.940 was not available for download for my 997c, it only gave me the 3.720 download whcih is still an upgrade from my 3.660 but it would be great to get the newest version, can anyone help?

They are having problems with there website, they are working on getting it corrected, keep checking back.

Now the website shows the nes 3.940 software for my 997c but i cant download it, evrytime i clcik on it the whole page freezes and nothing happens, sounds like they are still having issues, if anyone has it please email a copy to me, just pm me and ill give you my email address, thakn you.
