    Question Old Fiberglass question?

I have an old (1956) Lone Star fiberglass boat. The exterior is in good shape but the interior coating is flaking off. If you run your hand across it, a sand like substance comes off. I was wondering if anyone had any idea for sealing the inside. I didn't know if i could just coat it with some heavy primer or what. Thank you for any help.
