    Question Hummingbird Roostertails?!?

I've seen a mod. or two to try eliminating the roostertail caused by the 'ducer on the Hummingbord units but my question is when the 'ducer is properly positioned is it the norm for a roostertail to come off it when on plane? I installed my unit and know I need to adjust some since the roostertail is about to throw water over the back of the boat but should I expect to totally take the roostertail out?

I put mine on per instructions and still got a wicked rooster tail. I tried the tape fix for it and it worked great and still allows the unit to swing up if something should hit it.

    Talking roostertail fix

maybe hummingbird should make a fix...like a recall??? 'cause they just want our money one time, and don't care if we purchase another unit from them...they are aware of customer complaints I am sure about rooster tail, but do we see anything being done by them???

if you look at your transducer you will see the gap between the transducer and the bracket. just wrap that gap with electrical tape to fill it in. seems that that is where the water is shooting up from so with it filled in the water cant come up through it. let me know if ya need a pic and I will send ya one.

I totally agree. This warrants a recall. If it was a Ford or a GM, it would been recalled already. Humminbird knows it is a problem and have known for some time (from all the complaints). They choose to ignore and don't really care about our complaints. If they did care, this problem would have been resolved some time ago. They just want our money, not our gripes.

Thanks Crappieday. I'll take care of it ASAP. Doesnt sound like another email to Humming bird will do any good either. Bummer.

Hellofa fix for something that costs 1000-2000 bucks ain't it.

I understand my toilet lid tape repair, but not a fix for high tech equipment..

Does this cause the depth to read correct then read 400 feet when you know that it is ten?? I have that problem.I was thinking that I need a bit of fine tuning on the transducer angle. It will also show about a hundred fish until you stop and the screen clears.Anybody got any ideas??
