    Default homemade rod holder stand

:D I'm in the planning stages to build a stand for the front deck of my bassboat to mount 4 rod holders on. Tell me what you think of this idea.

Use 3/4 inch galv pipe. Attach together with threaded joints to make a large T. The upright joint of pipe would be attached to deck with galv bracket. Then a T joint screws to the top. Then two 10 inch lengths attached accross the top(by screwing them into the side holes of the T joint.
Drill holes, attach rod holders, go fishing.
Anyone ever try this and find that it wouldn't work?

I hope you understand those North Florida details. :D

May want to add a jam nut where the pipe attaches to the base so your 'T' faces the right direction. The threads may not bottom out at the desired point leaving your stand loose or at the wrong angle.

    3/4" will do just fine.

Post some pics. when you're done.

Someone on here posted a pic of that very thing. Looked like it would work.
The pic I saw had driftmaster on it with the pipe clamp bases to make it easy to adjust angle.
Currently a non-fishing slacker! (not for too much longer)

That's what I have done on my boat, 03 Tracker . Looks good and is real strong. I welded my t bar on , used driftmaster's on it. Jam nut at the bottom to lock it from turning. I used 3/4 conduit, instead of galv pipe. conduit is lighter. I welded a 3/4 nipple at the bottom, to screw in the base. I used the galv base on the boat. easy to take off. If you need more info Pm me.

Here is my spider-rigging rod holders and base. I used 1/2 galv. pipe for the upright. I then used 2-12" of 3/4 galv. pipe and 3/4 T for my T-bar. I used a 3/4 X 1/2 reducing bushing to attach upright to T-bar. I used 4 split-ring pipe hangers for 3/4 pipe for the bases of the driftmasters. You can loosen 1 of the bolts that hold them together to adjust the height of your rod tips.

For the base I used a 1" floor flange mounted to the floor of my boat and a 1" X 6" pipe nipple. I then used the nut and washer from a 1/2 dresser coupling to mount the 1/2'" upright to the base. I drilled a 1/4" hole thru both and used a pin so the upright could not twist. The dresser coupling nut and washer take out the wobble. Just pull pin loosen nut and the rod holder can be removed.

Here is the split-ring pipe hanger that I used.
